Wishing You a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving – Rep. Dave Rutigliano

I want to wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. This Thanksgiving, many families are making decisions on how to celebrate safely. Health professionals have suggested that families limit their Thanksgiving holiday dinners to immediate family and limit travel.

Even during a pandemic, there is a renewed appreciation for the heroic people who are there for us. From our frontline healthcare workers, doctors, nurses, childcare providers, pharmacy workers, grocery store employees, teachers, bus-drivers, truck-drivers, electrical line-workers and others we rely on for our everyday needs.  From our first-responders, 911 operators to members of our nation’s military who keep us safe and free, I give thanks.

The tradition of Thanksgiving – a celebration of good harvest – first took place in 1621, when English Pilgrims at Plymouth Plantation in Massachusetts shared a meal with their Native American neighbors. While opening our homes this year is an uncertainty for many, please make sure to call and check on isolated, elderly or fragile neighbors. Tell them you’re thinking about them. If you are able and feel comfortable doing so, offer to bring them a plate or a piece of pie.

We will get through this pandemic and, when we do, I hope we come out the other side more appreciative, more giving and more generous with our time and our blessings.

Finally, I give thanks for the honor of serving as your State Representative and, as always, welcome the opportunity to work for you. Please, never hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns relating to state government at Dave.Rutigliano@housegop.ct.gov.
