Trumbull Delegation Hosting 2nd Annual Food Drive in the Month of December

HARTFORD – State Representatives Dave Rutigliano (R-123), Laura Devlin (R-134) and Ben McGorty (R-122) are hosting a month-long food drive to benefit the Trumbull Food Bank.

The food collection period will be December 1st to December 16th.

    • A collection bin will be available at the Trumbull Town Hall from December 1st to December 17th.
    • On Saturday, December 17th, the three Trumbull State Representatives will be collecting food outside the Trumbull Stop & Shop from 10:30am to 12:00pm to show their appreciation for those giving donations.

“Tis the season for giving, and for lending a helping hand to those residents in need, if you have a chance, come by and say hello. Make a donation if you’re able. Every little bit helps and makes someone’s world a little better,” said Rep. Rutigliano.

“As the holidays and cold months approach, lets show the true Trumbull holiday spirit and help out those families most in need with a food donation, no matter how small, every bit helps,” said Rep. Devlin.

“The Trumbull Food Bank benefits so many local families,” said Rep. McGorty.  “I hope everyone in the community can help out a little, assuring those in need won’t have to go without this Holiday Season.”

Over the last few years, the number of families receiving food assistance from the food bank has increased markedly due to economic conditions and to the harsh winters we have had in state. The food bank accepts non-perishable food items, paper products like paper towels and toilet paper, and toiletries such as shampoo and toothpaste.

Other suggested donations needed are: Cereal, Honey, Dry Noodles/Pasta, Flour, Rice and Rice Mixes, Boxed 100% Juice, Jelly and Jam, Vegetable Oil, Paper Products, Peanut Butter, Canned Tuna, Baked Beans, Canned Beans and Pastry Mixes.

Additionally, the pantry accepts gift cards from local stores that allow pantry workers to buy items they are unable to stock.
