Because the issues of transportation and the possibility of tolls coming back to Connecticut are critical to our communities, I am writing to let you know that the Transportation Committee will be holding an important public hearing on Wednesday March 14th, at 10:30 a.m. in the Legislative Office Building in Hartford with the major topic being tolls and rail fares.

Transportation is such a critical issue for the residents of Trumbull. I want to make sure your voice is heard.

Included in the public hearing agenda is SB-386, An Act Concerning Legislative Approval Before the Department of Transportation Increases Railroad Fare or Decreases Services. Right now the DOT does not need legislative approval to raise fares.

In addition, there are also four toll related bills:

    • HB-5046, An Act Concerning the Sustainability Of Transportation Projects.
    • SB-389, An Act Establishing the Connecticut Transportation Authority.
    • HB-5391, An Act Concerning Transportation Infrastructure.
    • HB-5393, An Act Establishing the Connecticut Transportation Finance Authority To Maintain Major State Highways.

I’d like to encourage you to have your voices heard in opposition or support of these or any other bills on the agenda. To view the complete agenda click here.

How to Speak at the Public Hearing

Public speaker order will be determined by a lottery system.  Lottery numbers will be drawn from 7:30 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. in Room 2401 of the LOB.  Speakers arriving after the completion of the lottery will have their names placed at the end of the speaker list.  Please submit 55 copies of written testimony to the Committee staff at 7:30 A.M. in Room 2401 of the LOB.  Testimony received after the designated time may not be distributed until after the hearing.

    To Submit testimony:

    • Please email written testimony in Word or PDF format to TRAtestimony@cga.ct.gov.
