TRUMBULL- State Representative David Rutigliano (R-123) received a firsthand look at United Illuminating’s (UI) Avangrid Training Center in Trumbull.
The UI’s internship program trains the next generation of transmission and distribution line repair workers. UI’s Trade Internship Program, hires rising seniors from local technical high schools to be interns with their UI line workers for 10 weeks before considering them for full-time jobs following their graduation and 18th birthday.
“It’s great to have this facility in our town of Trumbull, that provides for a path and opportunity to go through the school to work pipeline,” said Rep. Rutigliano. “I am heartened that UI looks to hire people who live locally and want to stay and raise their families here, these are good high-paying jobs that are in demand.”
During his visit, Rep. Rutigliano welcomed incoming interns from local schools along with past interns who graduated from last year’s training program and was happy to see three young people from Trumbull were students in the class.
