    Plasko's Farm

TRUMBULL-State Reps. David Rutigliano (R-123) and Tony Hwang (R-134) hailed state assistance to a local Trumbull farmer to mitigate the farms flood losses.

The Trumbull farm, Plasko’s Farm LLC, has been awarded a state grant to help them recover from unrecoverable losses in production and property damage in 2013 due to severe weather events, including excessive precipitation.

The PLANT programs were established in June 2013. Funding for the plan program was approved by the State Bond commission in July.

The farms received an average of $20,595 each under the state’s Production Loss Assistance Needed Today (PLANT) grant program.

“This helping hand was needed to support our farmers during this critical period. Plasko’s Farm is the last remaining fully operating farm in Trumbull and a treasure for the community,” said Rep. Rutigliano.

Rep Hwang stated, “Plasko’s Farm, a community institution since 1925, that has hosted an annual Fall corn maze festival that donates portions its’ proceeds to St Vincent Medical Center’s Swim Across the Sound’s fight against cancer.  This grant will allow Plasko’s to recover from unforeseen production losses due to Superstorm Sandy and allow it recover to remain a functional and economically sustainable farm and nursery.”

Here is a complete list of Farms who will receive some state relief:
