Rep. Rutigliano Receives Key Legislative Assignment

Helping Relationship between CT Business & State Government
HARTFORD– Last week, State Rep. Dave Rutigliano (R-Trumbull) was appointed Ranking Member of the General Assembly’s General Law Committee by House Republican Leader-elect State Representative Vincent Candelora (R-86). A Ranking Member serves as the leader of the minority party in committee meetings and works with the Committee Leadership to bring forward legislation.
“I am grateful for the trust Rep. Candelora has placed in me. We face a very challenging legislative session working to rebuild our state’s economy safely, while making sure we do no further harm to struggling workers,” said Rep. Rutigliano.
“There is no one more knowledgeable about business industry laws and the unintended consequences of them and how they affect business of all sizes than David. His decades long real-life experiences as a business partner and employer provides unique insight. But what makes David a natural fit for this role is his committee knowledge, serving as a former member and his affable personality which provide advocates of all kinds the opportunity to sit down and discuss their issues in a transparent way. Dave has a no-nonsense approach which is refreshing under the gold dome,” said Rep. Candelora. “I am confident in his ability to break down complicated legal language in a way the average citizen can understand the nature of the debate. He will be a resource not only for our own members, but his open-door policy will be a benefit for many.”
Rutigliano was re-elected to a fifth term on Nov. 3rd and in the days afterward he has prepared himself for the start of the legislative session that opens on January 6th.
Rep. Rutigliano will also serve as a key member of the House Republican leadership team having been appointed a Senior Republican Whip by incoming Republican Leader Candelora as well as serve on the House Republican bill screening committee.
In addition to his assignment as a Member of the General Law, Rutigliano will also serve on the Labor and Public Employees, and Regulations Review committees.
