Rep. Rutigliano enters second term in CT House of Representatives

State Representative Dave Rutigliano was sworn in for his second term representing Trumbull in the CT House of Representatives, Wednesday, on the CT House floor. He was accompanied by his wife, Michele and their two sons.
“I’m blessed to be here again representing the citizens of Trumbull. It’s great to celebrate with my family and fellow caucus members, but the hard work starts now,” he said.
House Republican Leader Themis Klarides appointed Rep. Rutigliano to serve on the Finance, Revenue &Bonding, Labor & Public Employees, and General Law Committees.
The Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee has jurisdiction over matters relating to finance, revenue, capital bonding, fees and taxation.
The Labor and Public Employees Committee has cognizance of all matters relating to workers’ compensation, unemployment compensation, conditions of employment, hours of labor, minimum wages, industrial safety, occupational health and safety, labor unions and labor disputes and matters relating to the Department of Labor.
The General Law Committee has cognizance of all matters relating to the Department of Consumer Protection, fair trade and sales practices, consumer protection, mobile homes and occupational licensing, and matters relating to alcoholic beverages.
“These committees are a great fit. As a small business owner, I am familiar with the issues that employers and their employees face,” he said.
Rutigliano is a partner in the local restaurant group, the Southport Brewing Company, which has created hundreds of jobs in Connecticut. He said he started in the restaurant business as a kid washing dishes and clearing tables, so he can appreciate the hard daily work of the state’s employees.
For his second term representing Trumbull, Rutigliano said his goals have not changed.
I’m still committed to common sense and creating opportunity. Now that I’ve been here for a term, I’m in a better position to get things done,” he said.
Rutigliano encourages anyone with questions, or issues with which they need assistance to contact him.
The 2015 Legislative Session, convening Jan. 7 will end June 3.
