Rep. Rutigliano Delivers Collected Items to Trumbull Food Pantry

Hartford – After a successful collection day at the Trumbull Stop & Shop, State Rep. Dave Rutigliano delivered six carts worth of non-perishable food items and household goods to the Trumbull Food Bank last Monday.

As part of a month-long food drive, Rep. Rutigliano visited the supermarket last Sunday and personally collected items to deliver to the pantry. He stood outside the store with his wife, Michele, and greeted customers as they entered and accepted donations as they left for about two hours.

“I’m always impressed by the generosity of the people of Trumbull,” he said. “To stand out here for just a couple of hours and leave with enough food to completely fill the back of a van is a real testament to the kindness and helpful spirit of our town. I want to thank everyone that donated again, and want them to know their donations were very much appreciated at the food pantry.”

Jennifer Gillis, who runs the pantry, helped Rep. Rutigliano bring the food inside and was very pleased to have items to replenish her stock after a tough winter. She noted that the pantry operates almost exclusively on donations from town residents.

The Trumbull Food Pantry is located at The Center at Priscilla Place, 23 Priscilla Place, off of Huntington Turnpike near the Bunny Fountain and the Fairchild-Nichols Library. The pantry accepts non-perishable food items, and is especially in need of paper products like paper towels and toilet paper, and toiletries such as shampoo and toothpaste. Additionally, the pantry accepts gift cards from local stores that allow pantry workers to buy items they are unable to stock.
