GOSHEN – State lawmakers, including State Rep. Karen Reddington-Hughes (R-66), took the opportunity on Saturday morning to meet with members of the public and engage in a policy discussion at Camp Cochipianee. The event was hosted and facilitated by the League of Women Voters of Litchfield.

According to Reddington-Hughes, the panelists talked about many topics that are currently under consideration in the Capitol’s Gold Dome. These include the state’s fiscal guardrails, which have kept Connecticut’s finances in check since they were established in 2017, early voting guidelines, and the proposed mandate to ban the sales of new gas-powered vehicles by 2035.

During the panel Reddington-Hughes pointed out that the early voting period has the unintended consequence of people not wanting to participate.

“You lose the urgency vote when you elongate the process. I don’t understand why we’re doing something that doesn’t benefit us,” said Reddington-Hughes.
