“During today’s session, we held lengthy debate on an act expanding sick days (H.B. 5005). This legislation, while well-intentioned, will prove to be detrimental to small businesses across our state. At a time when our small businesses are struggling, saddling them with more mandates is not the route to go. Even if an employer has only one part-time employee, business owners must offer up to 40 hours of accrued paid leave to part-time workers regardless of how many hours such part-time employee works.

4-H Students, Firefighters Visit Capitol for Session Days

Farmland Grants Allocated to Recipients Across the 66th District

The Connecticut Department of Agriculture (CT DoAg) announced that it has allocated $1.475 million in state funding to farmers and non-profits involved in production agriculture to invest in long-term climate resiliency projects. According to the department, these actions will decrease vulnerability to extreme weather events through regenerative agricultural practices. Funding came from the Farmland Restoration, Climate Resiliency and Preparedness Grant Program.

Town of Warren Tour Group Visits Capitol

HARTFORD – A tour group from the Town of Warren came to visit the Capitol recently. State Rep. Karen Reddington-Hughes (R-66) was on hand to welcome them to the Legislative Office Building at the beginning of their tour.

April is World Autism Month. Join us in spreading awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), what resources are available, and to dismantle negative stigma that can be associated with it. Our caucus will continue to strive to craft policies, similar to P.A. 23-137 that eliminated wait lists for services and expanded autism Medicaid waivers, that promote a more inclusive society.

Early Voting: What You Need to Know

Early voting was approved by Connecticut voters in 2022. During the 2023 legislative session, the General Assembly authorized in-person early voting for elections held after April 1, 2024. Under this schedule, the first election utilizing early voting will be the Presidential Preference Primary on April 2, 2024.
