Rep. Reddington-Hughes Joins Legion Post 27 to Honorably Retire Used American Flags

Under cloudy grey skies that threatened rain, members of American Legion Post 27 in Litchfield dutifully and respectfully placed used American flags in large piles in preparation for their official retirement.  The men, Terry Collins, Jim Amrich, Eugene Saska, and Ray Kramer, who all served our country in the military or reserves, smoothed, straightened and stacked each flag, regardless of size, onto wooden pallets as fellow Legion members, family and friends gathered to share a meal before the formal retirement ceremony.

Jim Amrich also gave Rep. Reddington-Hughes a tour of the 85-year-old building and they discussed future renovation plans that will provide significantly better easier access for people with disabilities, including new bathroom facilities.

State Senator Stephen Harding and Litchfield First Selectman Denise Raap also shared brief remarks during the moving ceremony.
