Honoring the American Flag: Flag Retirement Collection Across the 66th District

Honoring the American Flag: Flag Retirement Collection Across the 66th District

The American flag 🇺🇸 stands as one of the most powerful and enduring symbols of our nation. It represents freedom, sacrifice, and unity—and as such, it deserves to be treated with the utmost respect, even at the end of its life.

When a flag becomes worn, torn, or otherwise unserviceable, it should be retired in a dignified and respectful manner. That’s why I’m proud to announce a district-wide initiative to collect unserviceable American flags and ensure they are properly retired.

    Drop-Off Locations 🏛️

Starting Tuesday, May 27, collection boxes 📦 will be available at every Town Hall across the 66th District. Residents are encouraged to bring in any damaged or aged flags they wish to retire. These boxes will remain in place until Thursday, June 12.

    Honoring with Ceremony 🎖️

After collecting the flags, we will hold a formal flag retirement ceremony on Saturday, June 14, in observance of Flag Day. This ceremony is a meaningful way to show gratitude for the symbol that has flown over our homes, schools, and public spaces.

    Join Us

Please take a moment to check your home, garage, or local organizations for any flags that should be retired. Your participation helps uphold the respect and tradition our flag deserves.

Thank you for helping us honor the Stars and Stripes with the dignity it has earned.
