Flood Recovery Resources

August flooding continues to impact towns across the 66th District. Below are resources to help with your efforts in cleaning up and documenting damage. Reporting the damage will help urge decision-makers at the federal level to provide additional resources of relief to our area.
Damage Survey
All homeowners and business owners who experienced damage to their property are strongly urged to participate in this documentation effort by either filling out an online survey hosted by the Connecticut Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security – click here for survey – or by contacting your town’s local emergency management office to have their damages recorded.
Grant Opportunity for Small Businesses and Nonprofits
Through the state’s Dept. of Economic and Community Development in partnership with the Women’s Business Development Council, grants of up to $25,000 will be available for small businesses and nonprofit organizations in Fairfield, Litchfield, and New Haven Counties that experienced damage from the floods. Grants can be used to cover various expenses to help in the recovery, including those associated with cleanup efforts, replenishing lost inventory, and replacing equipment. The application process begins on Tuesday, September 3rd. Click here for more information.
Farm Service Agency Disaster Tool
If you own a farm, you can use the USDA’s Disaster Assistance Recovery Tool to document and report damage to your property. This database will allow you to put in the details of damage to your farm and will be sent to the USDA for further consideration and potential relief program eligibility. Click here to access the tool.
