REDDINGTON-HUGHES SWORN-IN TO SECOND TERM

Hartford – On Wednesday morning, State Rep. Karen Reddington-Hughes (R-66), took her oath of office and was sworn-in to her second term representing the towns of Bethlehem, Litchfield, Morris, Warren, and Woodbury.
“It’s an incredible honor to take the office and begin my second term representing the people and businesses of the 66th Assembly District. I look forward to engaging in the complex discussions that will shape our state’s public policy as I continue my advocacy for affordability, accessible healthcare services, and the preservation of our natural resources,” said Reddington-Hughes.
Following the morning session, a joint session was held in the afternoon with the State Senate, Judicial Branch, and Governor for him to deliver his State of the State address. In his speech, Governor Ned Lamont referenced the state’s successful fiscal guardrails – a Republican-led effort to cap state spending and create a mechanism to pay down its outstanding debt obligations.
Reddington-Hughes is hopeful that these guardrails will remain intact, leading to a stable fiscal outlook for several years to come.
“Affordability is the number one issue that I heard when knocking doors for my campaign and through my pre-session survey that I administered. It’s critical that the legislature make strides in addressing skyrocketing costs, including energy prices that have caused everyone’s monthly utility bills to rise. We have our work cut out for us as many in the majority have indicated that there will be another push for green initiatives that drive these costs upward,” said www.RepReddington-Hughes.com
In addition to defending the fiscal guardrails, Reddington-Hughes is in the process of submitting her individual legislative proposals. Among her priorities, she will look to craft legislation that will help minimize human-bear conflicts – a major public safety concern in western Connecticut.
