Rep. Pizzuto Takes Oath to Represent 71st in House of Representatives

Posted on February 28, 2022

With his wife Michele, daughter Stephanie Pizzuto-LaPerriere, daughter Jessica and son-in-law Keith Morin and grandchildren Ellie and Mia Morin by his side on the dais of the House Chamber, State Representative Bill Pizzuto (R-71) today took the oath of office to become the newest member of the General Assembly and the voice of the people of the 71st district of Middlebury and Waterbury.

“It is an absolute honor to represent the people of Middlebury and Waterbury and with such a short session I am excited to get to work on the issues that are important to all of us, including shoring up the budget, making sure our neediest residents have the services they need and helping law enforcement do their job safely and effectively,” Rep. Pizzuto said.

Rep. Pizzuto won the seat in a special election last Tuesday following the retirement of longtime State Rep. Tony D’Amelio who stepped down following a 25-year career to focus on his business and family.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, House Republican Leader Vin Candelora announced that Representative Pizzuto has been appointed to serve on the General LawBanking and the Housing Committees.

“Bill’s diverse background, including as a former city alderman and most recently as director of UConn Waterbury, make him well suited to step into these important committees and quickly grasp the core issues and how they affect his constituents and impact our state overall,” Rep. Candelora said.

“I want to thank Rep. Candelora, caucus staff and every member of the legislature who stopped by, called or emailed to wish me the best on this new chapter,” Rep. Pizzuto said. “I look forward to working together to move Connecticut forward from the pandemic and into a much brighter future.”

Representative Pizzuto can be reached at his legislative office in room 4200 of the Legislative Office Building by appointment, via his website www.RepPizzuto.com, by phone at (860) 240-8700 or via email:  William.Pizzuto@Housegop.ct.gov.
