State Representatives Bill Pizzuto, Cindy Harrison and David Labriola, and State Senator Eric Berthel, today welcomed Connecticut’s Kid Governor and his cabinet to the Capitol.  For 2022, the Connecticut Kid Governor will have help from Southbury’s Satvik Nog.

According to the director, the “program uses free, in-class lesson plans and the annual election of a Kid Governor to help students learn about state government, the history and process of voting, and the importance of civic participation. This year, more than 8,400 fifth graders registered to vote in our Statewide Election for the 2022 Kid Governor – they represent 300 classes in 62 Connecticut towns, including a town that you represent.”

Satvik, a student at Long Meadow Elementary School in Middlebury, ran for the office on a platform of climate change.  His campaign video and the campaign videos of the other final candidates can be watched by going to:  CT.KidGovernor.org/cabinet2022.

Connecticut’s Kid Governor® is a national award-winning civics program created by The Connecticut Democracy Center at Connecticut’s Old State House. The program is presented with major funding and partnership support from CT Humanities and the Gawlicki Family Foundation, and in partnership with the Connecticut Council for the Social Studies. This year’s Kid Governor is Makhi Ettienne-Modeste.

More information about the program can be found at: http://ct.kidgovernor.org/
