Rep. Pizzuto Touts Funding Allocation to Waterbury for Metal Finishing Program

WATERBURY—State Representative Bill Pizzuto (R-71) applauded a $300,000 allocation approved this month by the State Bond Commission for the Manufacturing Alliance Service Corporation in Waterbury for the metal finishing program.
“I’m appreciative of the decision from Governor Lamont and commission members to invest in this project and for making this a priority,” said Pizzuto.
The bonding will be used by the Northwest CT Manufacturing Regional Sector Partnership’s METAL action team in partnership with the Manufacturing Alliance Service Corporation (MASC). They’ve developed content for the first-of-its-kind in the nation training curriculum for the metal finishing industry. The funding will support the purchase and installation of a self-contained electroplating unit at MASC. Waterbury officials say this unit is a key piece of equipment that will allow the implementation of the hands-on training curriculum.
“This training program is a great way for students to continue their education in an innovative field. I’m glad this grant-in-aid will be able to further our efforts to grow jobs in the Waterbury area,” added Pizzuto.
Pizzuto, Waterbury Mayor Paul Pernerewski and Office of Policy & Management Secretary Jeff Beckham, among others, gathered at MASC on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, to celebrate the funding award.

The grant money was approved unanimously at the June 7, 2024, Commission meeting at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
