The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) released its 2024 voter record scores for the Connecticut State House and Senate. Its scores were based on action taken on several priority pieces of legislation that had been flagged by the organization because of their expected impact on Connecticut’s economic growth and business climate.

Connecticut’s largest business organization recognized State Representative Bill Pizzuto (R-71) with a perfect voting record.

“There are too many burdensome reporting requirements and fees, placed on our businesses. I will continue to oppose policies that create more government bureaucracy or seek to levy greater revenue from them. However, I was proud to support initiatives that support entrepreneurship,” said Pizzuto.

CBIA ranked all state lawmakers based on their support for the business community’s positions on 12 policies. The scorecard was calculated using select pieces of legislation and may reflect votes from committee, the House, or both.

The bills assessed in the report are:

    • SB 135 – AN ACT ESTABLISHING A MAXIMUM CHARGE FOR CERTAIN OCCUPATIONAL LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, PERMITS AND REGISTRATIONS
    • SB 250 — AN ACT CONCERNING THE GLOBAL ENTREPRENEUR IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM
    • SB 443 – AN ACT CONCERNING THE ACCRUAL OF INTEREST ON CERTAIN TAX UNDERPAYMENTS AND THE BUSINESS OPERATING LOSS CARRY-OVER PERIOD
    • HB 5002 – AN ACT CONCERNING EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE AND EDUCATION
    • HB 5005 – AN ACT EXPANDING PAID SICK DAYS IN THE STATE
    • HB 5247 –- AN ACT CONCERNING EMPLOYEE HEALTH BENEFIT CONSORTIUMS
    • HB 5269 — AN ACT CONCERNING NONCOMPETE AGREEMENTS
    • HB 5344 – AN ACT ESTABLISHING FIRST-TIME HOMEBUYER SAVINGS ACCOUNTS AND A RELATED TAX DEDUCTION AND CREDIT
    • HB 5367 – AN ACT CONCERNING MEDICAID COVERAGE OF RAPID WHOLE GENOME SEQUENCING FOR CRITICALLY ILL INFANTS AND STUDIES CONCERNING THE ELIMINATION OR REDUCTION OF THE KATIE BECKETT WAIVER PROGRAM WAITING LIST AND MEDICAID COVERAGE OF DIAPERS
    • HB 5431 – AN ACT ESTABLISHING A CONNECTICUT FAMILIES AND WORKERS ACCOUNT
    • HB 5436 – AN ACT CONCERNING EDUCATOR CERTIFICATION, TEACHERS, PARAEDUCATORS AND MANDATED REPORTER REQUIREMENTS
    • HB 5446 — AN ACT CONCERNING FUNDING FOR COMMUNITY ACCESS TELEVISION, THE CONNECTICUT TELEVISION NETWORK AND LOW-INCOME INTERNET ACCESS AND TAXATION OF COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES PROVIDERS
