State Rep. John Piscopo (R-76) and State Senator Henri Martin (R-31) recently hosted a “Pints and Policy” town hall event at Crabby Al’s to keep constituents updated on the 2019 legislative session, which came to a close on June 5th.

The Thomaston lawmakers discussed topics the recently approved state budget, and answered questions from attendees about local issues concerning the community and statewide concerns.

Among the topics discussed were concerns about the state budget which neither legislator supported, keeping businesses and individuals in the state, increased taxes, tolls, marijuana, and where they want the direction of the state to go from here.

“Sen. Martin and I host these town hall meetings so that our constituents remain informed about the issues facing our state and understand the legislation that recently passed,” said Rep. Piscopo. “I appreciate that our constituents took the time to attend this event and share their concerns with us. It’s important that we as legislators understand the concerns of our constituents so that we can better serve them here at the Capitol.”

“Informal gatherings like these are really helpful to us as state lawmakers,” Sen. Martin said. “We are able to hear from and connect with taxpayers on a variety of issues, from taxes and tolls to health care and the environment. Rep. Piscopo and I thank Thomaston taxpayers for staying active and vocal when it comes to their state government. We will continue to do everything we can at the State Capitol to protect their wallets.”

Constituents were pleased to have the opportunity to speak frankly with their legislators, who in turn were very appreciative of the feedback and thanked the group for sharing their thoughts.

Anyone unable to attend the event but would like to speak with their legislators may do so by contacting Rep. Piscopo at 800-842-1423 or Sen. Martin at 860-240-0022.
