Streamlining Services for Veterans

I wanted to inform you of an executive order Governor Malloy signed yesterday that is designed to help veterans to obtain occupational certificates and licenses based on their previous military skills and training. The order also simplifies the process for awarding college credit for their military education.
Now all state departments, commissions, and boards will need to take military education and training into account when awarding certification and licensing. The aim is to make it easier for veterans to apply their skills and military training when transitioning into civilian life.
The order has also tasked the Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education with creating a comprehensive and standardized system for awarding college credit for education that veterans have received while in the military.
This order is a continuation of Governor Malloy’s directive from last year, aimed at helping recent and future veterans finds jobs back in the civilian world after their service. It also created the Veterans Cabinet which creates strategies to help veterans get access to the services that are available.
