Thomaston – State Rep. John Piscopo (R-76) and Senator Henri Martin (R-31) recently paid a visit to Thomaston High School and spoke with a group of students in a civics class. Piscopo and Martin spoke with the group about their roles as state lawmakers, and encouraged the students about the importance of getting involved in state government.

The students engaged in discussion with their legislators about the legislative process, including how a bill becomes a law, and engaged in a mock activity of passing a bill through the state house and senate.
A question and answer session followed, where students were able to speak directly with their legislator on various topics, including their personal forays into politics, and major issues currently being discussed by the legislature.
