Harwinton — Senator Henri Martin and Representative John Piscopo today announced the approval of a $1.7 million bond authorization by the State Bond Commission to fund the extension of the municipal water line in Harwinton. The project will connect the Harwinton Town Garage and the Animal Shelter—two essential town facilities currently without direct access to municipal water.
“This is a win for Harwinton,” said First Selectman Michael Criss. “I’m grateful to the Bond Commission for supporting this important infrastructure improvement. Ensuring clean, reliable water access for our town services—especially our animal shelter—has been a priority, and today we’re making that a reality. This extension will also provide drinking water and fire suppression capabilities for the Harwinton Fairgrounds, where two wells dried up last year.”
The water line extension represents a strategic investment in local infrastructure, enhancing the town’s ability to maintain municipal equipment and provide improved care for animals housed at the shelter.
“We would like to thank First Selectman Michael Criss for his strong advocacy on this much-needed project that will protect the animals being sheltered and help our Town Garage properly maintain its equipment,” said Senator Martin and Representative Piscopo in a joint statement. “This is a smart, local investment with long-term benefits for our residents, town employees, and the animals in our care.”
