Rep. Piscopo Welcomes Girl Scouts to State Capitol
HARTFORD- State Representative John Piscopo (R-76) took part in Girl Scout Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, March 16, meeting with local Girl Scouts from across the state about the issues they feel are most important them. The annual event provides opportunities for girls to continue to develop their leadership skills, while increasing their awareness of civic engagement.
The scouts were able to speak with Rep. Piscopo and ask him questions that were important to them.
“It is so important to provide opportunities for young girls to learn about and explore early leadership roles, which build their skills and confidence. I was happy to meet these bright young ladies and have the chance to speak with them. They showed good insight and asked some great questions. The Girl Scouts is a great organization that teaches young girls about the importance of having a strong voice and being involved. Our local Troops in Thomaston and across the 76th District are very active and contribute a great deal to our community,” said Rep. Piscopo.
The day also included a press conference at the State Capitol, which concluded with a pinning ceremony to recognize new and returning members of the Honorary Girl Scout Troop 201, including Rep. Piscopo, at the Capitol. This group of bi-partisan policymakers forms an honorary Girl Scout Troop that is committed to advancing critical issues for girls and women of Connecticut.
Girl Scout Day at the Capitol provides Girl Scouts throughout Connecticut a chance to meet one-on-one with legislators to learn more about our democratic process, and to highlight the important initiatives that more than 47,000 Girl Scouts and more than 19,000 Girl Scout
volunteers find critical in every community across the state.
