Rep. Piscopo Recognizes Harwinton Outstanding Citizen

HARWINTON—Last week, State Rep. John Piscopo (R-76) attended a banquet to honor Harwinton’s Outstanding Citizen of the Year, Roger P. Plaskett, at the Fairview Farm Golf Course. During the award ceremony, Rep. Piscopo presented Mr. Plaskett with a citation from the Connecticut General Assembly in recognition of his achievement.
A Harwinton native, Plaskett was chosen for the honor by a six-member, rotating committee of fellow residents including past award recipients, led by Chairman Fred J. Fincken Jr. Award recipients are chosen for their dedication and contribution to the Harwinton community.

‘It was my honor to attend the banquet and to congratulate Roger Plaskett on the award, of which he is most deserving,’ said Rep. Piscopo. ‘His commitment to preserving the history of Harwinton for future generations and his continued genuine support for the Harwinton community are commendable. I was proud to present him with a citation on behalf of the Connecticut General Assembly, and recognize him for his outstanding achievement.’
Besides serving as town historian since June 2006, Plaskett also is chairman of the town-appointed Harwinton House Committee and a member of the town’s Historic District and Historic Properties Commission. He also is a member of the Harwinton Historical Society and is a board member of the Theodore A. Hungerford Memorial Library.
The award for civic involvement has been presented annually since 1975.
Rep. Piscopo represents the 76th District in the General Assembly.
