Rep. John Piscopo Honors Northfield Volunteer Fire Company’s 75 Years

NORTHFIELD– State Rep John Piscopo (R-76) attended the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Northfield Volunteer Fire Company. The event celebrated the great success and growth that the company has had over the past 75 years.
“This event was a great way to honor and recognize the outstanding work and the commitment of each of the Northfield Volunteer Fire Company’s volunteers,” said Rep. Piscopo. “These men and women selflessly give of their personal time in order to be on call and ready to assist in the event of an emergency. They have made, and continue to make this town a safer, better place through their service. I wish them continued success as they continue to serve the people of Northfield and the greater community.”
Rep. Piscopo spoke on both the important contributions to the community, and the great service that the Fire Department has delivered. NVFC members spoke on the history of the Fire Company and the bright future ahead as a result of all of the hard work provided.
The Northfield Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. was established in October of 1938 to provide fire protection for the village of Northfield in the town of Litchfield. In 1981 the Organization became certified as an EMS First Responder for the district. The NVFC is staffed by 37 dedicated men and women in addition to a Junior Corp consisting of 9 young adults between the ages of 14 and 18. They are supported by the Northfield Fire Company Auxiliary with its 14 members.
