Do you have meaningful input about competitors to Connecticut Light & Power and United Illuminating?  Now you can voice your opinion to state regulators.

The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) is hosting five public comment forums over the next few weeks to solicit input on investigations of the power industry.  According to an article in the Hartford Courant, the goal of these hearings is “to establish new industry guidelines by the middle of the year for how it markets power to customers, how customers switch between suppliers, how suppliers give notice to customers, and what types of products are allowed.”

Customers may speak on the record at any of the hearings, or may file written comments with PURA by writing to the agency’s executive secretary at 10 Franklin Square, New Britain, Conn. 06051. Comments are also accepted by email at PURA.ExecutiveSecretary@ct.gov. The schedule of these hearings is currently as follows:

*Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m., in the Milford City Hall Auditorium, at 70 West River Street, Milford.
*Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m., in the Farmington Community Senior Center, 321 New Britain Avenue, Unionville.
*Feb. 24, at 6:30 p.m., Brookfield Town Hall, Room 135, 100 Pocono Road, Brookfield.
*Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m., in the Norwich City Hall, 100 Broadway, Norwich.
*March 3, at 10:30 a.m. at PURA’s offices, Ten Franklin Square, New Britain.

PURA regulates rates and services of Connecticut’s investor owned electricity, natural gas, water and telecommunication companies and is the franchising authority for the state’s cable television companies.
