Piscopo: Visiting Your Local Farmers’ Market

Connecticut has over 100 farmers’ markets and their popularity mirrors their benefits.
At any local farmers’ market, you can find fresh products, friendly farmers who are the face behind the food you are buying, and a community gathering place for everyone to enjoy.
By supporting local farmers’ markets, not only are you getting the freshest possible produce, but you are also supporting our local farmers and local economy. With that in mind, here are some farmers’ markets to visit in our area:
Thomaston Farmers’ Market Thursdays 2:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. July 3rd-October 30th Seth Thomas Park, South Main Street
Burlington Farmers Market Burlington Congregational Church, 268 Spielman Hwy / Route 4 Fridays, 3-6 p.m., July-October
Litchfield Hills Farm-Fresh Market Center School Parking Lot, Woodruff Lane Saturdays, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. June-October
Farmer’s markets are open well into the fall season, with a variety of fruits and vegetables available for sale. It’s a great activity to share with family and friends, so be sure to shop local and enjoy!
