As Veteran’s Day approaches, I would like to inform you of some great local events to honor our veterans.

Harwinton-The Harwinton American Legion Post 137 will conduct a Veteran’s Day ceremony at the Veterans Monument on the Town Green on Monday, Nov 11 at 11am. The ceremony will include the reading of the names of this year’s deceased Harwinton veterans and the placing of an American flag for each in front of the monument. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony at the Community Hall.

Burlington– A Celebration of Veterans will be held at Lewis S. Mills High School on Thursday, November 7. The event will begin with a luncheon from 12:00pm-1:00pm followed by an assembly in the auditorium from 1:00pm-2:00pm. If you wish to attend please RSVP for the event with Christine Bronson at 860-673-0423 x15311.

Also, Connecticut is building its first statewide memorial to pay tribute to State heroes and heroines of the past, to honor the veterans of today, and to demonstrate the appreciation we hold for their service for generations to come.

To purchase an engraved paver, or to donate to the Memorial, click here, or visit www.cthonorsvets.org

I hope that you take time to remember our veterans and their great service to our country this Veterans Day.
