HARTFORD – On Wednesday, January 7th, State Representative John Piscopo (R-76) came together with his colleagues in the State House of Representatives to formally begin the 2015 Legislative Session. Rep. Piscopo spent the majority of the morning at the State Capitol in Hartford where he took the oath of office to officially become a member of the State House of Representatives for a fourteenth term.  He represents the towns of Thomaston, Burlington, Harwinton, and Litchfield in the Connecticut General Assembly.

For the upcoming legislative session, Rep. Piscopo has been selected to serve as Chief Whip in the House Republican Caucus by House Republican Leader Themis Klarides. He was also reappointed to the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee as well as the Energy & Technology Committee for the upcoming two year term. He will also serve on the Environment, Screening, and Legislative Management Committees.

“This is going to be a tough Session,” Rep. Piscopo said.  “The budget will be our main issue and negotiations will be tense.  It is extremely important that we get our state’s fiscal house in order, and as Whip I will do whatever I can to help implement our priorities.”

Rep. Piscopo can be reached at john.piscopo@housegop.ct.gov or 800-842-1423. Constituents can follow his legislative activity throughout the session by logging on to his website, www.cthousegop.com.
