Piscopo, Martin Honor Thomaston’s Distinguished Citizen

THOMASTON — State Rep. John Piscopo (R-76) and State Sen. Henri Martin (R-31) recently joined the Rotary Club of Thomaston in honoring Kristin Mosimann, who was named this year’s Distinguished Citizen. During the annual banquet held this year at the Grand Oak Villa in Oakville, Rep. Piscopo and Sen. Martin joined guests in offering their congratulations and celebrating Ms. Mosimann’s accomplishment.

“‘I offer my sincere congratulations to Kristin Mosimann on being named this year’s Distinguished Citizen,’ said Rep. Piscopo. ‘Through her continued commitment to volunteerism, Kristin has demonstrated a genuine support for her community and the desire to make Thomaston a great place to live and work. I am proud to recognize her with a citation on behalf of the Connecticut General Assembly, for her outstanding achievement.”

“Ms. Mosimann’s volunteer work in the community shows what a difference one person can make,” said Sen. Martin. “She has been dedicated to making improvements in town and making sure we preserve Thomaston’s history, as well as encouraging children and adults alike to learn about that history. She is truly deserving of this citation.” According to the Thomaston Rotary, the criteria to be named Distinguished Citizen is for individuals who have donated numerous hours over an extended period of time, not for recognition, not for remuneration, but for the benefit of others and the Community. Ms. Mosimann has served the community in many ways, including serving on several Boards and Committees over the years. Ms. Mosimann served on both the Board of Selectmen and Police Commission for two years and the Board of Finance for eight years. Currently, she is a member of the Historic Commission for the last ten years and Retirement Committee for the last 11 years. She is also a member of the Radio Communications Committee and the Historical Society (Lifetime member).

Ms. Mosimann is the 34th citizen to be honored. Funds raised by the Rotary Club of Thomaston will be used to help to fund the Rotary Scholarship Program, which provides Thomaston students with over $15,000 in scholarships annually.
