HARWINTON — This morning Rep. John Piscopo stopped by Harwinton Consolidated School, where he participated in Read Aloud 2010. Piscopo was among a dozen or so adults invited to the school to read books to elementary school students. Others on the reading roster included Torrington economic development director Rose Ponte, U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy and Harwinton First Selectman Frank Chiaramonte. Piscopo, who represents Harwinton, Burlington and Thomaston in the state legislature, explained to class of second-graders how a bill becomes a law—then read them the book “Hermit Crab.” The school has held Read Aloud Day for 11 years.
