Piscopo Honors Thomaston Eagle Scout

HARTFORD – State Rep. John Piscopo (R-76) joined Thomaston Boy Scout Troop 53, along with family and guests to honor David Schriver of Thomaston, who earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
During the Eagle Court of Honor held at St. Thomas Church, Rep. Piscopo presented Schriver with an official citation on behalf of the General Assembly, in recognition of his accomplishment.
‘I offer my sincere congratulations to David on his incredible achievement,’ said Rep. Piscopo. ‘Advancing to the rank of Eagle Scout takes commitment and perseverance. David has put in countless hours of hard work into earning the rank of Eagle, including his service project which will go a long way toward helping serve our neighbors in need. I commend him on a job well done.’
Requirements include earning 21 merit badges and demonstrating Scout spirit, service, and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages. Schriver planned and orchestrated his community project to build new cabinets and shelving for food storage at the Thomaston Food Pantry.
The Eagle Scout Rank is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scout program of the Boy Scouts of America. Since its introduction in 1911, the Eagle Scout Rank has been earned by more than 2 million young men. The title of “Eagle Scout” is held for life, hence the phrase “once an Eagle, always an Eagle”.
Boy Scout Troop 53 – Thomaston, CT, is led by Scoutmaster Andrew DeCaro. Chartered in August, 1938, this marks the 94th consecutive year the troop has been chartered in Thomaston and is chartered by the Thomaston Volunteer Fire Department.
Rep. Piscopo represents the 76th District in the General Assembly.
