Piscopo Honors Harwinton Eagle Scout

HARTFORD – State Rep. John Piscopo (R-76) joined Boy Scout Troop 23, along with Burlington First Selectman Ted Shafer, family and guests to honor Ryan Howard of Burlington, who earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
During the Eagle Court of Honor held last month at Camp Workcoeman in New Hartford, Rep. Piscopo presented Howard with an official citation on behalf of the General Assembly, in recognition of his accomplishment. First Selectman Shafer also presented a citation on behalf of the Town of Burlington.
‘I congratulate Ryan on his great accomplishment,’ said Rep. Piscopo. ‘To earn the rank of Eagle Scout takes countless hours of hard work, both in his community and in the wilderness. I know he will continue to serve as a great role model and make Burlington proud. I wish him much success.’
The Eagle Scout Rank is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scout program of the Boy Scouts of America. Since its introduction in 1911, the Eagle Scout Rank has been earned by more than 2 million young men. The title of “Eagle Scout” is held for life, hence the phrase “once an Eagle, always an Eagle”.
Requirements include earning a number of merit badges and demonstrating Scout spirit, service, and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages.
Boy Scout Troop 23 – Burlington, CT, is led by Scoutmaster Nathaniel Walker.
Rep. Piscopo represents the 76th District in the General Assembly.
