HARTFORD – State Rep. John Piscopo (R-76) joined Boy Scout Troop 55, along with Harwinton First Selectman Michael Criss, family and guests to honor Christopher Jon Soliani of Harwinton, who earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

During the Eagle Court of Honor held earlier this month at Harwinton Congregational Church, Rep. Piscopo presented Soliani with an official citation on behalf of the General Assembly, in recognition of his accomplishment.   First Selectman Criss also presented a citation from the Town of Harwinton.

‘I offer my sincere congratulations to Chris on his impressive achievement,’ said Rep. Piscopo.  ‘To earn the rank of Eagle Scout takes commitment and determination.  He has put in countless hours of hard work, both in his community and in the wilderness, earning 21 merit badges to advance to the rank of Eagle.  I commend Chris on his perseverance and dedication, and wish him much success.’

The Eagle Scout Rank is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scout program of the Boy Scouts of America.  Since its introduction in 1911, the Eagle Scout Rank has been earned by more than 2 million young men.  The title of “Eagle Scout” is held for life, hence the phrase “once an Eagle, always an Eagle”.

“ Chris has done an amazing job in our community restoring our town signs and park benches for our seniors.  Chris is a natural born leader and will continue to make Harwinton proud as he sets out to be a mentor and role model to others while serving our country in the U.S. Air Force” said First Selectman Criss.

Requirements include earning a number of merit badges and demonstrating Scout spirit, service, and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages.

Boy Scout Troop 55 – Harwinton, CT, is led by Scoutmaster Scott Melancon.

Rep. Piscopo represents the 76th District in the General Assembly.
