HARTFORD- State Rep. John Piscopo (Burlington, Harwinton, Litchfield, and Thomaston) congratulated Thomaston High School Girls’ Softball Team on their title victory to become Class S State Champions.

“It is an honor to celebrate such an exciting evening with the Thomaston High School Girls’ Softball Team,” said Piscopo.  “I join our community in sharing in the tremendous pride that the team has brought to our school, to our athletic program, and to our town.”

Piscopo attended the banquet held last week at the Fairview Farms Golf Course in Harwinton to honor the players and coaches.  Citations from the Connecticut General Assembly were also presented by Piscopo, in recognition of their great achievement.

“I’m so glad I was able to attend many of their tournament games and support the team.   I offer my sincerest congratulations to Coaches Gene Torrence, Kelly Finlay, and Wally Olsen, along with Team Managers Sarah Estabrook and Jessica Taylor, and all of the players on the girls’ softball team on their incredible season and remarkable victory.”

Thomaston defeated Old Saybrook 7-6 in an impressive come-from-behind victory.  The Golden Bears rallied from a 6-0 deficit to win the championship game.
