Flu Vaccines Now Available

Influenza vaccines for the 2013-2014 flu season are now available.
The beginning of flu season is upon us and it is important to take preventative measures very seriously. The flu or influenza is a very contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. The virus can be very dangerous, especially to seniors, children, and those with existing health problems.
The most effective way of preventing the spread of the flu is by getting vaccinated. This year’s vaccine is now being sent to pharmacies and health care providers. Each new vaccine is tailored for the new strains of flu that emerge and it is imperative to get the current version of the vaccine annually.

Please note that most immunization sites only give flu shots to adults ages 18+. Some sites will take children; however, most children receive a flu shot from their pediatricians.
