Alternating One Lane Traffic on Route 202 in Litchfield (1/2 Mile East of the Intersection of Route 202 and Town Farm Road/Fern Avenue)

The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced that the westbound lane of Route 202 (1/2 mile east of the intersection of Route 202 and Town Farm Road/Fern Avenue) is closed through November 2016, for replacement of Bridge No. 06657 in Litchfield.

Traffic will be directed onto the eastbound lane with alternating traffic in each direction. Traffic will be controlled by uniformed flaggers between the hours of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday. Alternating traffic will be controlled by stop signs while the contractor is not actively working.  The length of the alternating traffic pattern is approximately 300 feet. Concrete barriers, impact attenuation systems, construction signs, warning lights and electronic message signs will be used to maintain and direct traffic flow through the work zone.  Work is expected to continue through November 2016.

The project consists of the removal of the existing culvert and installation of a new Box Culvert under Route 202, and replacement of the existing headwalls and wingwalls. The project also involves roadway reconstruction including excavation and paving in the area of the culvert, installation of new metal beam rail and plantings.

DOT Project No. 0073-0178/0179 was awarded to Black and Warner Construction Co. Inc., of Unionville, CT on January 15, 2016 and is scheduled to be completed on June 17, 2017.
