    Annual Forest Firewood Lottery

    Annual Forest Firewood Lottery
This article was archived from the previous WordPress site. Formatting and media should be close, but may not match the original post perfectly.

Once again, Connecticut will be offering a Forest Firewood Lottery. From now through February 2, 2015, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) will be accepting applications.

For $60, winners of this year’s lottery will be awarded a permit which will allow them two-cords of wood, either from standing trees or wood that fell during storms and timber harvests.

Eligible winners will be announced March 18, 2015, when the DEEP will post a list to the Forestry website. Permits will begin being issued in late spring and will continue through October 15, 2015.

Please be aware that, unless specifically permitted by the Agricultural Experiment Station, firewood purchased in Litchfield, Fairfield, Hartford and New Haven counties may not leave those counties. This is due to the current invasive insect quarantine.

For more information, or to download and application, I encourage you to visit the DEEP State Forestry website. Please also feel free to call 860-424-3630.

Please spread the word to those who may be interested!
