HARTFORD – On Thursday, State Representative Tom O’Dea (R-125) announced that the State Bond Commission voted to confirm a series of state grants to municipalities in favor of specific community-building initiatives.

The announced funding includes an award of $38,561 to the town of New Canaan reimbursing the Police Department for expenses of body-worn cameras, dashboard cameras, and video storage devices.

“I am thrilled to announce this clear investment in the safety of our communities, and I thank Governor Lamont and the State Bond Commission for their generosity in making this contribution to New Canaan,” Rep. O’Dea said. “Body cameras and dashboard cameras have been useful tools in making our neighborhoods safer by protecting the rights of police officers and citizens and strengthening the integrity of our judicial system. The men and women of our New Canaan Police Department have proven the benefits of this equipment through smart and just service to our residents and I thank them for their continued work.”

Rep. O’Dea is the Deputy House Republican Leader and a member of the legislature’s Judiciary Committee.

Rep. O’Dea represents the 125th District consisting of New Canaan, Darien, and Stamford.
