TOLLAND – Rep. Tammy Nuccio, R-Tolland, was proud to share that more than $800,000 in state bonding was approved by the House and Senate on the final day of session to help renovate and expand Tolland’s animal control facility—a critical step toward providing better care for animals and working conditions for staff.
This funding now needs to be placed on the state’s Bonding Commission agenda for final approval.
Built in 1975, the current facility is in serious need of updates. This funding will allow Tolland to make significant improvements—including proper ventilation, cleanable surfaces, partitioned dog runs, and upgraded indoor and outdoor areas.
The upgraded facility will include:
- 12 new dog runs
- Dog washing station
- Employee restroom
- Heating and A/C for both animals and staff
- Expanded entrance for visitors
The project is designed to serve Tolland, Willington, and Stafford, with the goal of creating a regional animal control facility that is cost efficient.
