HARTFORD – Rep. Tammy Nuccio, R-Tolland, recently joined Rep. Kavros Degraw at Eastern Connecticut State University where the veteran lawmakers hosted an informational session for students who may be interested in applying for the Student Loan Reimbursement Program.

Last legislative session Rep. Nuccio joined Reps. Eleni Kavros Degraw and Corey Paris to work across the aisle to address student debt relief so Connecticut’s students can launch their careers on the right foot, including pursuing the trades. That hard work gathering bi-partisan support has resulted in the Student Loan Reimbursement Program, which is now open for applications.

The program launched earlier this year and allows students to receive up to $5,000 per year (capped at four years) to put towards their student loans.

A key part of this program requires applicants to perform at least 50 hours of community service. In addition to public, or private colleges and universities, students who earn occupational or professional licenses, or certificates, are eligible for the program.

More information about the program can be found here.

Specific application requirements can be found here.
