Rep. Nuccio Checks in with State Police Troop C

TOLLAND — State Representative Tammy Nuccio (R-53rd) paid a visit Friday to the State Police Troop C barracks on Stage Road in Tolland. Bringing pizzas and honorary proclamations for the Troopers, Nuccio also had an opportunity to receive an update on the Troop’s enforcement efforts in the run-up to summer.
Nuccio, who also serves as Chairwoman on the Tolland Town Council, presented the town’s Resident State Trooper Kevin Eklund with a proclamation in recognition of National Peace Officers Memorial Day. The Tolland lawmaker also presented two additional proclamations: one to Trooper Kaelberer who, along with Troop C K-9 ‘Drago’, apprehended one of the suspects in a February 20th attempted armed robbery and home invasion in progress; the other was to Trooper Hoyt, who was injured as suspects rammed his cruiser while attempting to flee the scene.

Nuccio thanked the officers for their courageous conduct and said the events of that day still resonate strongly with her. Town residents were notified that day by the town’s virtual alert system of an armed robbery in progress and told to ‘shelter in place’.
Following the presentation ceremony, Nuccio met with Troop Commander Lt. Jim Palmer who provided her with an update on ongoing enforcement activities in District C, which includes Ashford, Tolland and Willington.
