TOLLAND – Hundreds of people – both virtually and in person – attended a “Street Takeover” Forum in Tolland hosted by Rep. Tammy Nuccio that included a presentation by Connecticut State Police in connection to a recent incident in Tolland.

Connecticut State Police provided an explanation about their response to a May 21 incident in which an intersection was blocked while cars performed “stunts” and a couple was surrounded by a large group who severely damaged their car.

Rep. Nuccio also provided an update about legislation that she supported and co-sponsored that will strengthen the penalties for people who participate in these takeovers (turning what had been a misdemeanor into a felony).

Rep. Nuccio thanked the troopers and command staff of Troop C, Town Manager Brian Foley, Rep. Tim Ackert and Sen. Jeff Gordon for taking part and helping to find solutions to this ongoing problem together.
