    Dear Friends & Neighbors,

The height of the pandemic exposed gaps in internet access and broadband availability for many residents in our district as workers attempted to log-in remotely at home and students tried to participate in virtual learning. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) – responsible for administering broadband infrastructure programs – is seeking information from interested parties to develop a statewide plan for universal broadband access.

A Public Input Session is Scheduled for July 21st at 10:00 a.m.

Please see the DEEP press release below with background information and instructions on how to participate:

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is seeking input from interested parties on broadband technology, access, adoption, and coordination ahead of its anticipated broadband infrastructure deployment programs via a Request for Information (RFI) launched today. Information collected from this RFI will inform the design of programs funded by the American Rescue Plan Act’s Capital Projects Fund (CPF) and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act’s Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program. This RFI will help identify potential barriers to access and adoption to ensure that everyone living and working in the state has access to affordable, reliable, and resilient broadband service.

A public input session is planned for July 21, 2022 at 10am. Click here to register.
