In honor of Earth Day, State Representative Kathleen McCarty (R-38) is joining with the Waterford Parks and Recreation Department to host an Earth Day Cleanup event on Saturday, April 23rd.

Volunteers are welcome to join in the fun by meeting at one of the parks and pitching in to help. Volunteers will be picking up trash and debris from several parks starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Veterans’ Memorial Park at the Civic Triangle located at 174 Boston Post Rd. Following that, people will head over to Stenger Farm Park, 123 Clark Ln., and then finish at Leary Park, 739 Vauxhall St. Ext. The event is expected to run from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. although volunteers are welcome to stay longer.

A limited supply of disposal bags will be provided free-of-charge by the Waterford Parks and Rec. department. Volunteers are encouraged to bring and wear gloves or any other personal safety equipment they prefer to use. Rakes, shovels, brooms, brush cutters and other small, non-motorized work equipment are also welcome but will not be provided.

If you are unable to make it to this cleanup, you are still encouraged to help keep our state beautiful by picking up litter in your community.
