Ask Governor to Stop Devastating Nursing Home Cuts

WATERBURY- State Rep. Gale Mastrofrancesco (R-80) along with State Sen. Rob Sampson (R-16) visited ‘The Cheshire House’ Nursing Home this week.  They listened to concerns that Governor Ned Lamont’s recent budget cuts to Connecticut nursing homes are negatively affecting patient care and threaten to put them out of business.

Both Mastrofrancesco and Sampson opposed the state budget that cut funding to these nursing homes this past June.

“Unfortunately, the state budget was put together without considering the real-world consequences to Connecticut residents. Harmful budget cuts, like this nursing home cut and a laundry list of new tax hikes, leave many wondering how can they afford to stay in the state,” said Rep. Mastrofrancesco, a member of the budget-writing Appropriations committee. “This is a flawed state budget produced by one party rule which isn’t balanced and it goes after seniors on fixed incomes.”
