    Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Here is the latest update on Gov. Lamont’s decision to close “non-essential” businesses as part of the strategy to help stop the spread of COVID-19. The Executive Order goes into effect tonight, Monday, March 23, at 8:00 p.m.

Late Sunday, state economic development officials released guidance designed to give business owners, their employees, and residents a better understanding of the requested closures. Click here to read the full document.

According to the guidelines, here are examples of businesses that will remain open:

    • Pharmacies
    • Grocery Stores
    • Gas Stations
    • Restaurants (take out only)
    • Banks and financial services
    • Farmer’s markets
    • Food banks

There is a process that will allow business owners to file for an exemption from the order. Click here to learn more.

General information for additional resources that both employers and employees may find helpful can be accessed by clicking here.

Additionally, the Department of Public Health, has created a map showing COVID-19 confirmed cases by town. You can click on it to review the most recent data that has been collected by DPH.

Just as a reminder, the state continues to maintain a web portal with the most up-to-date information and statistics on COVID-19, as well as a Frequently Asked Questions document that is updated regularly.

I will continue to provide updates as this public health emergency changes. In the meantime, I welcome hearing from you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out by phone 860-240-8700 or email Gale.Mastrofrancesco@housegop.ct.gov.

    From the Desk of Rep.
