Rep. Mastrofrancesco, Wolcott Lawmakers Hear from Residents

WOLCOTT – On a wintery night last week at Wolcott Town Hall, State Sen. Rob Sampson (R-16) and State Rep. Gale Mastrofrancesco (R-80) met with constituents for their Town Hall Forum to hear about issues impacting Wolcott residents and the rest of Connecticut.

The Wolcott legislators, who together represent the town in the CT House of Representatives, sat and answered questions from interested constituents on the major state issues to be debated this session, the state budget, the forced regionalization of school districts, state pension debt, possible sales tax increases, a plan for a statewide property tax, new tolls, and a proposal to permit early voting in the state.

“Despite the cold and wintry weather, we had a great turnout.” said Sen. Sampson. “People are understandably concerned about the direction of our state. Rep. Mastrofrancesco and I assured the people we are against more unnecessary taxes and further burdensome regulations.”

“I want to thank everyone who came out in the snow, that kind of dedication shows how much Wolcott residents care about Connecticut. Our state is at an economic crossroads, conditions have seemed to have improved over the past couple of years, but many people I talk to are fearful with new taxes and fees that CT will again head in the wrong direction,” said Rep. Mastrofrancesco.” Wolcott residents want a limited government, not an expanded one which is in every aspect of our lives.”

The 2019 Legislative Session began on January 9th and ends on June 5th.
