October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

I wanted to remind you that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase breast cancer awareness and education, while also promoting research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

I am proud to help spread the word about the importance of this cause, which is meaningful to so many families in our community.

Please get regular medical checkups and mammograms and contact medical professionals if you have questions or concerns. If you have not yet scheduled

CT Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic in New Haven – Oct. 27-28

CT Mission of Mercy (CTMOM) is a two-day clinic that provides free dental care to the underserved and uninsured in Connecticut; those who would otherwise go without this care.

Dental cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, x-rays, oral health instructions, fillings, extractions, and other services will be provided by hundreds of dental and medical volunteers, including dozens of UConn Health students, residents and faculty members. Additionally, more than 400 community volunteers assist in non-medical

In an effort to learn more about the Department of Transportation, its departments and current and future projects, State Representative Tracy Marra joined several of her colleagues for an open house and tour of the large Newington facility.  The lawmakers and other stakeholders were able to meet directly with DOT officials and experts to discuss current and future construction taking place across the state, including update on local projects on the Merritt and I-95.

Help Filling in the Blanks This Holiday Season By Donating the Game of “Sorry”

It’s never a bad thing to say you’re sorry, and that’s why State Representative Tracy Marra (R-141) is hosting a new board game collection to help Norwalk’s Filling in the Blanks meet their goal of providing winter break backpacks to children in need.

Filling in the Blanks collects and distributes thousands of weekend meals to local children, and during the holiday break they provide new backpacks filled with supplies including food, activities, and games to make the school break better for thousands

FEMA to Send Emergency Alert TEST to ALL TVs, Radios and Cell Phones Oct. 4th

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) at approximately 2:20 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Oct. 4.

The national test will consist of two portions, testing WEA and EAS capabilities. The WEA portion of the test will be directed to all consumer cell phones. The test message will display in either English or in Spanish, depending on the language settings

Connecticut Energy Assistance Program Accepting Applications Now

I wanted to make you aware that the application period for the 2023-2024 winter season of the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) began on September 1, 2023. The program helps Connecticut residents – including both homeowners and renters – with the costs associated with heating their homes.

Basic benefits toward heating bills range from $180 to $530 depending on income, size of household, and need. Benefits are available for households with incomes up to 60% of the state median income, which

Rep. Marra, Friends Pack Lunch Bags to Help Filling in the Blanks

Concerned with food insecurity, especially among Connecticut’s children, State Representative Tracy Marra (R-141) and more than 20 of her friends gladly teamed up to help children in need by volunteering with Filling in the Blanks in Norwalk.

The energetic volunteer crew spent about two hours working alongside professional staff to ensure donated supplies to create weekend meal kits that included food, snacks, and other items were placed into strong plastic bags that will be distributed to children

Veterans Stand Down 2023

The Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) announced Veterans STAND DOWN 2023 will take place on September 22nd from 8:00 – 2:00 p.m. at five regional sites across the state.

While the COVID-19 pandemic changed the way many agencies and organizations operate, the DVA continues its commitment to serving Connecticut’s Veterans by providing access to a range of programs and services offered by state and federal agencies, Veterans organizations, and community-based non-profits.
