Thank You, Darien and Norwalk!

Wow, what a whirlwind the 2023 legislative session was!
Thank you, Darien and Norwalk, for your continued support, encouragement, questions, and comments. I am honored to serve as your State Representative. As your elected voice in Hartford, your feedback has been instrumental in allowing me to best represent the needs of the 141st.
As a new legislator, I would also like to share some insight; passing bills is messy. The process was a learning experience and one that I believe can and should be improved. Some bills started with broad concepts and no language. With no language we are unable to receive proper feedback from the public. Then, a series of smaller bills can get shoved into these larger concept/omnibus bills only to be shared with the legislators, and the public, moments before we have to vote. This is not a transparent or ideal situation. We need to do better Connecticut!
The good news is that this year, the most important bill we passed was the historic bipartisan state budget that my colleagues and I overwhelmingly supported. While not perfect, this budget was a true compromise and included many fiscally-conservative Republican ideas. It cuts taxes for the middle and working class, increases education funding to municipalities, invests an additional $3 Billion into the Budget Reserve (“Rainy Day”) Fund, pays down more than $2 Billion in unfunded pension liabilities, and more, all while remaining UNDER the spending cap.
I look forward to continuing to work for the residents of Darien and Norwalk. Thank you!
